Do you ever dream of sailing the seven
seas in your own boat but don’t think your bank account is big enough to
buy a luxury vessel, much less maintain it? If so, don't despair. You
can still make your dream come true without breaking the bank.
Just about any budget can take advantage of a boat timeshare for a
unique vacationing experience. In a yacht timeshare, you have the right
to use your luxury vessel to make your dream come true, but you don’t
have to be solely responsible for all the expenses of using and
maintaining the boat.
Timeshares provide people with an excellent way to have a great boat for
taking special vacations and experiencing the adventure of life on the
sea without actually having the expenses of purchasing the boat. Various
companies offer budding Captain Ahabs the ability to take to the open
sea without shelling out a lot of cash. Boat timeshare companies, active
all over the world and even on the Great Lakes, are easily accessible
over the Internet with a variety of programs to meet all needs.
Basically, a boat timeshare offers a vacation sailor the chance to buy a
share of a boat for a season. It is similar to a yacht club, but without
all the expenses of owning your own yacht. These programs let sailors
sail without all the headaches. In some programs, members purchase
blocks of time to use a boat over the sailing season. Other programs
work by giving several skippers the same boat during the sailing season.
These skippers book their sail times, show up and have a blast sailing,
then return the boat for the next skipper to take over.
Boat timeshares provide everything that is needed for the sailing trip.
Members are responsible for returning the boat in good condition, and
swabbing the deck isn't out of the question. However, many timeshare
programs even include maintenance and fuel in the contract. All the
member has to do is safely pilot the vessel, keep it clean, and enjoy
the trip. They can have a great high seas adventure with their family
and friends for a fraction of the price of owning a yacht themselves.
Insurance, boat licensing, upkeep, and other worries are usually handled
by the timeshare company.
For those who lack the sailing skills to pilot a vessel, many boat
timeshares will provide a complete crew, including a captain,
instructor, and cook at a small additional cost. One company, Trade
Winds Cruise Club, offers all-inclusive cabin rentals. It is an
affiliate of the Caribbean Resorts Condominiums International (RCI). An
RCI member has the option of exchanging a timeshare week for a cabin
space onboard a crewed catamaran charter.
The pricing for these nautical adventures is not bad considering that a
luxury boat can cost many thousands of dollars. It’s an even better deal
when you consider that buying your own boat doesn't include fuel,
maintenance, licensing, upkeep, docking fees, and insurance! A timeshare
covering the entire boating season can cost upwards of $7,000.
Considering the headaches relieved by taking part in a timeshare, this
is a reasonable amount!
